Mobile VoIP Is a Great Way to Cut down Your Business Costs
If like the rest of us you’re looking how you can cut costs now the credit crunch is hitting our pockets, then a new mobile VoIP app from one of the mobile VoIP operators such as Truphone, JahJah or Fring could be the answer. Many offices around the country have already made the change over to VoIP to take advantage of a dramatically cheaper way to make phone calls. Now the technology has been developed so you can make use of VoIP through your cell phone. Not only is this hugely convenient but it also has the potential to save your business a substantial amount of cash. Mobile phone bills represent a significant cost for most businesses especially when it is a necessity to make international calls.
One draw back with mobile VoIP in recent times has been a lack of sound quality or problem with latency where a noticeable gap in the sound was audible when having a conversation with someone. However with the creation of better audio codec’s these issues seem no longer to be an issue. Then there was the problem with the mobile VoIP client being very complicated to use with a certain degree of technical knowledge needed in order to be able to make it function correctly. Finally there was also an issue with what mobile handsets worked with the mobile VoIP software. All these issues combined made mobile VoIP quite an unappealing option.
It certainly seems like those days are a thing of the past with mobile VoIP clients such as Fring and JahJah now working with a huge array of popular mobile phones, including the iPhone and the BlackBerry - the obligatory mobile device in business. As well as this they are easy to install, and work in line with your existing address book. For these reasons there is little excuse not to have a mobile VoIP client installed on your mobile phone not least because they are free to download and install. you would be crazy not to start using mobile VoIP!

Big Companies Bring High Performance Notebooks to Everyone
In my view gaming laptops have lost their once held niche title. I can recollect when they were not so accessible. They were simply like a small volume production line. Did not sell in numbers but generated a lot of cash on each laptop. Everyone desired this kind of notebook, but it was too overpriced. Had you been a power user they were simply the best laptop computers you could purchase. Even though they did get everybody thrilled I do not believe they sold well because few people really buy laptop computers that are costly. Sales will improve though now that global brands are coming into the sector.
In comparison to the littler system builders these companies are aware that they can generate even more revenue. This would be one of the few margin making products they have as they make nothing on many others due to the giant competition. Local manufacturers not able compete with them in convincing prospects to buy laptop computers. This is a big threat to littler boutique companies. Really what I see happening here is that the bigger brands reducing prices at first to cut out the competition from littler companies. In addition prospects just appear to trust larger brands more.
With that these units are also perceived to be the best laptop computers already, even though they really aren’t. This is really the core unique selling point left for the unestablished companies. Now and then the littler retailers could offer the newest parts quicker and so give higher specs as well. Usually lots of evaluations of the specs will be done and the tech savvy can see what the better laptop really is. For this kind of niche, the specs are usually more valued than the appearance.
Surely what’s happening here should benefit people in the long run. Fresh technology will be purchasable by the masses when prices are forced lower. Things move so rapidly in this business that I can’t specifically produce any confident statements. I doubt if the overall price of notebook computers will decline but the latest notebooks are usually at high prices. Larger brands have involved themselves with the gaming laptops niche so only time will tell what occurs.
How useful is a Dream Dictionary really?
At the start of your dream journey, one of the most frustrating things is to figure out what the symbolism in your dreams means! Most often people start their dream conversation with me by saying: “I had this weird dream …” What makes it “weird” is the strange collection of people, objects, places and events that take place in the dream.
How do you make sense of it? I guess you’d be thinking that a dream dictionary is a good place to start.
Then again, the biggest “complaint” I hear is: “I looked up “such-and-such” in a dream dictionary and it makes absolutely no sense to me!” Well, I’m not surprised.
Watch out for Dream Dictionary Bloopers!
Some dream dictionaries contain some real whoppers. Here’s a selection from some dubious sources I saw recently [don’t laugh … these are real examples!]:
Burglar - If you catch a burglar in your dream you’re about to inherit some money.
Funeral - signifies news of an engagement or wedding.
Marshmallow - means you will meet a new friend of the opposite sex.
Razor - is a warning to control your temper.
You get the “picture”! These “interpretations” are obviously just ridiculous. And you can easily see that for yourself … intuitively you know that these meanings should not be taken seriously.
So do you even need a dream dictionary?
Well the answer is “yes” and “no” and “depends”.
“Yes” - use a dream dictionary when you’re really stuck with a symbol and you need some inspiration to find the right meaning. Just make sure you’re using a reputable resource and use your “BS” detector!
“No” - avoid using one when you can immediately relate the symbol in your dream to something in your waking life and your “gut” is giving you a positive reaction to the interpretation you’ve intuited.
“Depends” on the reliability of the source of the information. Don’t take any meaning at face value. Test them out first. You will be able to validate your dream messages in your life. You’ll also automatically collect your own personal dream symbol dictionary if you’re actively journaling and interpreting your dreams. You’ll be able to tell when certain symbols are valid for you or not.
How to use Dream Symbols
I’ve collected over 1000 dream symbols in my 10-year dream quest and have validated them all for myself. Most of them are universal in nature and I’ve noticed time and again how the same meanings appear for the same symbols in reputable research works … from dream therapists to psycho analysts, psychics, mystics, shamans and other metaphysicians.
For example:
Water - signifies your emotional self, your intuition and sub-conscious
Fire - signifies spiritual and psychic energy; purification; passion and creativity
Earth - signifies your physical self; reality and practicality; groundedness
Air - signifies your intellectual self; your thoughts and plans
Taking this a step further, certain “transport vehicles” relating to Water [emotion], Earth [physical] and Air [thought] signify how you are coping with these aspects in your life.
For example, if you’re in a boat in your dream this represents how you’re coping emotionally: are you gliding smoothly through the water indicating that your emotions are smooth and calm or are you being tossed on the waves of a stormy sea indicating abnormal emotional turmoil that is negatively affecting your life? You see what I mean?
Your dreams aren’t trying to trick you! All you have to do is learn to understand the language of your dreams and to translate the imagery you see with your “dream eyes” into useful information you can use in your waking life.
I like American writer, Gail Godwin’s thought on dream symbols: “Dreams say what they mean, but they don’t say it in daytime language.”

Anti-Aliasing for Great-Looking Text Graphics
Macromedia has a wonderful software application that helps users create great-looking text graphics by using anti-aliasing capabilities. In Fireworks MX 2004, artists and designers can create readable and attractive text graphics by substituting shades of the font color around the lines and curves, which otherwise can be broken and craggy in appearance.
Fireworks Anti-Aliasing Capabilities
Anti-aliasing capabilities have been with Fireworks for quite some time now. With the new edition, Fireworks MX 2004 enhanced further its four anti-aliasing options and added two more features.
Its anti-aliasing options include: None Anti-Alias, which disables text smoothing; Crisp Anti-Alias that allows the creation of a sharp transition between the edges of the text and the background; Strong Anti-Alias for a very abrupt transition of the text edges into the background, while preserving the shapes of the text characters and improving on the detailed areas of the characters; and Smooth Anti-Alias that lets the users create a soft transition between the text edges and the background.
On the other hand, the new anti-alias options are the System Anti-Alias that uses the text smoothing method which can be found in Windows XP or Mac OS X; and Custom Anti-Alias, which provides expert level controls (such as oversampling, sharpness, and strength) over the anti-aliasing.
The enhanced features from Fireworks allow the users to have a complete toolbox of “sandpaper” for anti-aliasing of text graphics. Users can quickly and efficiently smooth the edges of any working text using the Fireworks application.
To utilize the anti-aliasing options, simply apply any text object through the Property inspector ot the Text Editor.
Anti-Aliasing Options
To help you further maximize the capabilities of Fireworks and its anti-aliasing features, the following is suggested:
1. For anti-aliasing to be useful and maximized, it is best to use it on larger font sizes.
2. Do not apply anti-aliasing features on a bitmapped font.
3. Do not export anti-aliased text as a GIF with the Web 216 palette. The reason for this is that the Web 216 palette does not have the colors that you will be using to properly anti-alias your text.
4. Anti-aliased text which is exported as a transparent GIF then placed in a web page with a background color will appear more aliased. This means that the text would appear to have jagged distortions in its curves and diagonal lines. It is better to just alias the text at the beginning since you will have the same result anyway.
And,
5. Always try one of the pre-set anti-aliasing options first before developing your final output. This is to help you achieve your desired appearance. Try out the Non, Crisp, Strong, Smooth or System options. If you still do not achieve your desired requirements, then use the Custom Anti-Aliasing option.

Who Has The Keys?
Access control is a major problem for businesses large and small. Companies with high-tech access control systems - key cards, fingerprint- or retina scanners, etc. - can easily reprogram access codes and delete former employees from the data base. But even smaller businesses that rely on the security provided by a good, traditional lock-and-key system need to update their access controls regularly. This is an issue whether you use padlocks, cylinder locks, or police locks.
The first step is to conduct a regular Key Audit to review the status and location of every key, making sure that no unauthorized person has one. In small businesses with few employees, this can be a fairly simple process and one that’s sufficient to ensure access control.
If your company has more than a few employees, though, an audit might not be enough. A former employee - especially a resentful fired one - might still hold a key, inadvertently or deliberately. He might have “lost it,” or have made a duplicate before returning it.
Some businesses protect against unauthorized duplication by having every key stamped “Do not duplicate;” reputable locksmiths will refuse to make an unauthorized copy. Unfortunately, there are key cutters who will ignore that stamp, and others (especially at high-volume big-box stores) don’t have time to (or simply don’t) pay attention to such strictures.
Some keys are harder to copy than others. Medeco keys are impossible to duplicate except by licensed Medeco dealers, and then only with the permission of the registered owner. That protection eliminates the possibility of someone copying a key before returning it on request. But even Medeco locks are vulnerable to the former employee who “lost” his key and therefore can’t turn it in.
The safest way to ensure that only authorized people have keys is by repinning locks from time to time, so that old keys no longer work. After all, it’s not only disgruntled people who hold on to keys. At one point, I had keys to three small businesses where I’d once worked, and where I was still friendly with the owners. Keeping the keys was not for dishonest reasons, just rather dishonorable ones: it was convenient when I was in the neighborhood to be able to go in, even when they were closed, to use the bathroom or make a quick phone call (this was before cell phones). One of those keys still worked five years after I’d left!
If you haven’t conducted a Key Audit recently, do so. And if there’s any possibility that a former employee (or maybe a current employee’s disgruntled ex-) or even someone like me, has an unauthorized key, you need to call to have the locks changed. The cost of repinning and replacing a few keys - or even a large number of them - is far less than the loss you could face as a result of unauthorized access.
All the above holds true for residences, too. Think of all the people who have had keys to your apartment over the years - the super (or a series of them), a maid or cleaning service, caterers, the landlord, a neighbor who’s moved away, dog walkers, careless teenagers who lent their key to their best friend . . . .
It’s probably time to make a change - before you wish you had.

Notebooks Are A Top Choice For Playing Games On The Move
The last 12 months has seen masses of hype towards the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii however a lot of interest has been seen in PC games. Basically whatever happens the Personal Computer will always be a mega gaming platform.
Even though some manufacturers have put it a lot of effort, gaming systems are usually thought of as being bulky, beastly, noisy, downright expensive and they are usually put in the corner of the bedroom.
Laptops now account for up to fifty percent of all Computers shipped which has been pushed by the consumer sector. Despite the fact that that the majority of users don’t require mobility or even a notebook there’s something about being able to move a notebook computer from place to place and being wire free that we all find irresistible. The only gripe for pc gamers was that the vast majority laptops were not powerful enough for playing games. Any notebook marketed for playing games on was also bulky, beastly, noisy and just downright expensive.
A lot has changed. First the Intel Core 2 Duo processors started equalling the speed of Desktop processors. Intel have done brilliantly marketing centrino and being the market frontrunner but AMD has applied the necessary pressure on them with their Turion X2 line.
Another contributor that has really been making gaming notebooks a reality is Nvidia. Things are moving in the right direction. In 2008 Intel will release the quad core laptop processor. The Nvidia Geforce 9 series is also set for release in the the market.

The modern Internet Directories
Internet Directories can list any site, the idea is to provide the users of the net a main place to locate the sites they are interested in, for example a directory could list cars, race cars or special cars.
These web pages might contain price matches with other racing car parts offered in other web store, to show you what a deal you are getting with the price on the present site. Whatever is listed in the Internet site directories for this particular website will deal with all types of car parts.
Internet directories are making life easier for everyone that uses the Internet. It is easier to see what you choices are, what companies have what you need, or offer the service you need. It also tells you by the ranking in the site, which companies have been in business longer, or thought enough about their business to pay the hosting site to place it higher in the preferred Internet site directories ranking.
Internet site directories can also provide business-to-business (B2B) vertical content. This is web site advertising that is presented in worded lines, and placed on an Internet web page in a vertical, reading position. The content is professionally written to tell the website visitor about the company, the products they sell, and what their policies are. It will also list contact information for their customer service department.
Basic Search Engine Promotion
I can’t tell you how many times people have asked me, “How
to do I get my site to come up in the top ten of the search
engines so I can get hits and sell my product?”
What they really want to know is, “How can I get people to
show up to my website without spending any money on
advertising my site!”
People usually don’t like my answer because accomplishing a
“top ten ranking” on any search engine always requires
careful thought along with a significant amount of work.
Three types of “Search engines” abound on the Internet.
They include true search engines, directories, and links
pages.
At last count approximately 10,000 sites referred to
themselves as search engines, though only about a dozen
sites rate your attention since they drive 97% of the
Internet’s search traffic.
These sites include Google, Yahoo!, Overture, MSN,
AltaVista, AllTheWeb, Lycos, DMOZ, and a few others.
When a visitor logs onto a search engine looking for
information, they enter “keywords” about the subject in
hopes of obtaining a list of relevant websites.
Each search engine or directory operates with its own rules
about judging a site’s relevancy to a keyword search.
They look at text on the web page (body text) as well as
words you can’t see which reside in the actual code of the
web pages.
This code includes such things as alt tags, title tags, and
others.
Depending on the search engine, what you can’t see may
represent a far more important part of ranking well than
the words appearing on the page.
Search engines look at how many times a keyword shows up in
the various parts of your website as well as actual
location on the page.
Assuming that an important subject for your pages would
appear at the beginning of a page, those web pages starting
with the keyword should rank better than those that don’t.
Also, in many cases, the more websites linking to your site
will drastically impact your rankings.
Entire books and websites exist to teach eager website
owners how to pump up their rankings on all the various
search engines, however these promotion tips will serve you
well in your quest for the “Top Ten!”
** See what others have done for maximum exposure!
Go to the various search engines and perform a search under
which you would like to appear.
Dissect those pages to find
the common elements that make them show up.
~ How often and where do the keywords appear on the page?
~ How many words on the page in total?
~ Do they put keywords in their hypertext links?
~ How many other sites link to them and could you easily get
a link from those sites too?
** Beware of registration vs. promotion
Plenty of companies will “register” your website with
thousands of search engines for about $50-$100.
But simply submitting to the search engines won’t do much
for you. Without the proper structure in your website, only
sheer luck will cause your site to pop up in the top ten!
