Facial Hair Removal Adds to Your Look

Today facial hair removal became very important, for both men and women and frankly it’s going beyond a simple aesthetic issue, it’s really becoming a psychological and major life element. Many people are not comfortable with some hair featured on their faces, especially when it comes to large eyebrows and some mustache for women. There are different ways and techniques to go by, but there are no doubts that regardless of what they decided to do, people are doing it more and more.

Facial hair removal somehow gives a better sense of themselves to people and helps them to find a better equilibrium with their look expectations. As people become more aware of final solutions, often laser treatment is considered, but of course all the traditional methods are still widely used, from special lotion/creams to small electrical razors and so forth. The key is to have a smooth and hairless skin in the face and avoid or, at least slow down, the re-growth of unpleasant and unwanted hair. Facial hair removal is then as popular as any other make up and beauty application and of course beauty centers are also offering services to respond to the growing demand, especially in a moment in history where even men are paying more attention to their look.

The Stammering/Stuttering Speech Course

The five day speech course for stuttering/stammering.

The first two days of the course are used to learn all of the rules of fluent speech.

The first day is the most important day. This is the “clients” easy day as I do most of the talking, explaining in detail around half of the speech rules. I ask the client to talk about their history, including information about how their stutter started, about their family and about their interests, plus any other information they would like to disclose, i.e., where they work. The client will have at least one further speech task on this first day, which they will be asked to complete after they have heard the first set of rules.

On the second day the client becomes more involved, starting to put into practice what they have learnt from the previous day. The final speech rules are taught on this day.

The final three days are spent practising, enabling the rules to start becoming embedded and a natural part of the client’s speech.

Some of the areas included in the course are:

1.Why people stutter.
2.Telephone technique.
3.Interview technique.
4.Public speaking technique.
5.The speech rules:

There are numerous speech rules covering all aspects of speech, I will briefly explain what three of them cover:

a)When I was a stutterer I found it difficult to pronounce words beginning with certain letters such as b,d,g,k, and v etc I would always be substituting words e.g., “Birmingham” to “West Midlands”. These letters plus others are known as the “hard sounding” letters of the alphabet. I found the “soft sounding” letters (vowels plus the letter h) normally OK to say. Therefore I was trying to find a technique which would enable me to make hard sounds soft, I eventually found the answer and one of the speech rules covers this.

b)I hated “blocking” when I was a stammerer. One of the speech rules when applied makes it impossible for the stutterer to block.

c)For most stutterer’s their speech is at its most vulnerable when they are under pressure. I therefore have a speech rule dealing with this issue.

6.How to become fluent using the speech rules.

7.Understanding the psychological aspects of speech.

There is nothing in the course for the client to fear or worry about. If there is an area of the course that they would rather not cover or do they simply do not do it.

Each course is unique, as every stutterer is different; this is why courses are run on a one-to-one basis.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

What you eat affects how you breathe

Is there a connection between Asthma and Diet? Yes. What you consume very much so affects the functioning of your respiratory organs-it affects everything. Consequently, if one is seeking to control asthma symptoms and attacks, this is the one factor one has to strongly consider.

According to medical research, Asthma is an allergic inflammation of the lungs. Moreover, an asthma attack can be triggered by chemicals, air pollutants, pollens, molds, dust, animal dander, foods, exercise, and even temperature changes.

However, friends, speaking from my experiences with asthma from the age of 7 till I was about 20, the one factor I think is the most influential negatively on one’s respiratory and overall health, will be what one consumes.

This is a fact that has been in effect in several programs aimed at correcting respiratory health such as the “Breath Retaining Program for Asthmatics” developed by the Russian, Dr. Buteyko. Within weeks of adhering to his advice, many a chronic asthmatic has been able to give up the use of ventolin inhalers.

Now, I never had to use his program; however, in my quest to get rid of acne, I stumbled on the dietetic change that miraculously cured my asthma, halitosis and overall lethargy. Being amazed at how this change in eating habits worked for not one, but all of my health challenges, was what made me research and discover that such a program as his even exists.

“Well, what is the dietetic suggestion?” one might ask. Quite simply, it is to give up all processed foods and animal products such as meat, milk, eggs and the like from your diet-plain and simple.

Two quotes come to mind in advocating this: “You are what you consume” and “Let your foods be you medicine and your medicine your foods”

Now, I ask you a question: “What is the main physical emission that occurs during an asthma attack with all the wheezing and coughs?” It is mucus.

All the foods listed above are highly mucus forming and upon digestion (if they ever do get digested that is), they leave one with an excessive lining of mucus and slime. Keep in mind that the lungs are the most important excretory organs, when you add its functioning to this fact, it becomes apparent that the consumption of these substances are really only wreaking havoc on the body.
In addition, from my own experience, DO NOT CONSUME LIQUIDS WITH YOUR MEALS AT ANY TIME. This inhibits digestion by diluting the necessary juices in your stomach designated for that purpose. As a result, it hinders the much needed expansion of the diaphragm and consequently a constriction of the lungs- the bellows of life giving air- which results in the wheezing sounds any asthma patient is familiar with.

So what should one eat as an asthma patient?

Well, the foods that are the exact opposite, mucus binding or non-mucus forming foods.
These are quite simply fruits and vegetables. Make sure they are organic if possible or at least not in the list of the “dirty dozen” i.e. the ones most contaminated with pesticides such as Apples, Mexican Melons, Grapes etc…

Trust me on this; I’m speaking from experience, you will do very well to avoid the fruits in that list when it comes to asthma. Nonetheless you’d still be much better off steering clear of those food substances labeled as mucus-forming earlier on.

Other minor factors will still come into play in regards to a natural asthma treatment, however, diet is arguably THE factor to monitor the most.

Remember what you eat affects how you breathe…and how you breathe affects how you live.

Here’s to breathing freer.

The Great Adventure

(Liz, dressed for hiking, enters with a walking stick in hand and wearing a backpack.)

Hi! My name is Elizabeth Andra Shaw and I’m on a great adventure a journey called Life, a journey to answer the question, “Who am I?”

The first 44 years of my life, I lived in a place called Hatville. It was an exciting place. Everyone was very busy because they were wearing many different hats. In Hatville, hats are very popular. People collect hats, and some hats are so rare that they confer great status on their owners. There is competition and envy surrounding high status hats.

I picked up a few hats myself while I lived in Hatville, including the Daughter Hat, the Sister Hat, the Physical Therapist Hat, the Medical Editor Hat, and the Wife Hat. In fact (Liz shrugs off her backpack and extracts a hat) here is my favorite, the Phoenix Mercury Fan Hat! (Liz excitedly models the hat for the audience.)

(Liz turns suddenly serious and leans on her walking stick with both hands.) There came a day, however, when I received word that I could no longer stay in Hatville. I was told I would need to go to the neighboring country. Well, I didn’t want to go! I had heard about that country, its rough terrain, the pain and suffering that were commonplace amongst its residents. But I was given no choice, and so I set off from Hatville to Cancer Land.

I was interested to learn when I arrived that the residents of Cancer Land also collect hats, but there is no status attached to them. Hats are merely a way of keeping the sun off a tender bald head. There was less hustle and bustle there, but just as much activity. Instead of chasing status, the residents of Cancer Land kept very busy counting their blessings. A gorgeous sunset that God painted just for me. The whirr of a dragonfly passing by. The softness of a kitty’s belly. As I became busy counting my blessings, the terrain didn’t seem quite so rough and the suffering didn’t seem quite as unbearable as I had heard it would be. I learned to be content in Cancer Land by living in the moment and receiving all of its blessings. I also met my inner child, and here is one of her favorite things. (Liz extracts a stuffed animal from the backpack.) This is Gideon, my chemokitty. He went with me to treatment because my other cats weren’t allowed. Yes, Gideon and I did a lot of tough stuff together.

After about 2 years, I was healthy enough to leave Cancer Land. I could have gone back to Hatville, but by this time, I had no desire to do so. I ventured instead into the unknown territory beyond Cancer Land, and I found myself in a vast open area with choices open to me for miles around. Infinite choices. But there was no road, no path, no direction. I didn’t know what to do! I scrambled around, trying to find a path and found myself going in circles. Finally I found a wise woman who said to me, “It’s time to stop DOing and to simply BE.” It was at that moment that I realized that this part of the journey would mean going deep inside, into the core of my Self, to discover the treasure within. Once grasped, the treasure would enlighten my choices and the path would appear. (Liz lays down the hat and the stick, and takes a deep, cleansing breath.) Let me introduce my core Beingness to you tonight.

I am Liz.

I am courage and hope.

I am laughter and joy.

I am sorrow and tears.

I am pain and forgiveness.

I am compassion and empathy.

I am responsibility and integrity.

I am a child and I am an adult.

I am freedom and respect.

I am paradox.

I am The Beloved.

I am a song that God sings in the shower every morning and then can’t get off His mind all day long.

I… am… Liz.

4d and 3d scans - babyultrasound.co.uk

The method know as 3d ultrasound is that can be used during early pregnancy, it provides 3d images of the unborn child. Most of the time the ultrasound pictures are collated and joined together and animated to produce a “4d ultrasound scan”.

Three dimensional scanning works in the same way to the normal ultrasound scanning methods except that the ultrasound waves can be sent from many directions. The ultrasound pulses can be reflected back and captured and provide information to construct a 3 d picture in much the same way as 3d pictures. 3 dimesional ultasound scanning was started by stephen smith and olaf von ramm.

It’s important to understand that sonologists around the world have always pictured 3d images of the body in their minds while doing 2d scans. However, until recently it was impossible to do this kind of reconstruction on patient data acquired using ultasound scanning. The advent of baby scans for the first time allowed us a peek into the thinking of a sonologist and so letting us see the images on the ultrasound machine.

3d/4d imaging should utilize ultrasound energy following the same limits as conventional 2d ultrasound to create the 3d images. While there is no information of harm due to 3d ultasound scanning, its use in none essential situations should be undertaken with an understanding of the risks that exist.
