RSS and television are our two sources for this comparison. The
two are used for receiving info that is new or updated regularly.

change channels when it suits the remote control in your hand.
RSS/webfeeds are broadcast using XML, Atom or RSS tech with
the added feature of you setting the channel for what you want
to read or receive. Television news is now broadcast 24/7. RSS
is delivered instantly as changes are broadcast over the Internet.
Some don’t understand the tech behind RSS and avoid using it to
recieve spam free news. Email news is 2-way as it is used to send
and receive info, RSS is one way - you get what you ask for..and
that’s all. With email you have to climb thru all the other clutter
of wanted and unwanted emails until you find news/info you can
use for the day. RSS readers or aggregators display what is
subscribed to for the day and dependent on the source can
sometimes be updated several times a day.
Is RSS something I need? Maybe.
If you are on vacation and the flight you had scheduled has been
cancelled, when would you like to find that out? You are planning
a vacation and want to rent a compact or possibly upgrade - think
it would be a good idea to know how many compacts are available
or if any upgrades are available with and added savings for being
a subscriber to their RSS feed?
With RSS the info is sent when needed, is not buried under other
messages and still won’t get blocked by a semi-concious spam filter.
My RSS reader is for numerous news subscriptions, notices from
several websites that I visit regularly, blogs and press releases.
The overly bloated email box is for clients, and family, especially
for my college students who send me updates when their “investment”
fund has run out of money.

The Future of Intenet Technology
Nowadays, the internet is all pervasive with virtually any country in the face of the earth being connected to the World Wide Web. As one can understand being connected does not solve all the problems. Yet here one should remember that the amount of internet users and the availability of internet technology is what matters in the future development of the Hi tech industry in the given country (Stephenson, 91). The first world countries of the USA, Japan and Western Europe have computers everywhere and a great opportunity to be involved in the development of technology.
Speaking about developed countries I would like to note that 100% of businesses in the USA and Japan have computers at the work place, while this number is 98% in Western Europe (Perelman, 34). The amount of computers at home is also relatively high with the figures of 45%, 60%, and 20% for the USA, Japan and Europe correspondingly (Perelman, 34).
The Less developed countries of Eastern Europe and Asia although have computers at work and home yet show much smaller results (60% and 10% correspondingly).
As for the Underdeveloped countries I would like to note that the computerization of such countries is extremely low. Less than 10% of businesses and 1% of homes have computers in the underdeveloped countries, with the absolute absence of one’s own technology or productive capacity (Perelman, 36).
Speaking about the implications of such digital divide I would like to note that it does matter in the long run whether a country produces computer or potato chips and whether it uses computers or calculators at the work place.
The under-computerization of the under-developed countries does not positively impact their future economic development. The first world countries that are Technology intensive, yet have expensive labor, utilize the computer and information technology to minimize costs and related expenses. By doing so, they managed to reduce the overhead and make their goods very competitive on the global arena. The underdeveloped countries that are low-tech yet rather labor intensive have cheap labor as their sole advantage that allows them to compete for the place under the sun with the first world countries. With the advent of the new information technology, these countries are no longer able to compete, because the first world countries currently start to drastically minimize costs and compete with the third world countries (Stephenson, 90).
Such difference in the technological divide that currently exists in the world makes the richer countries even richer while the poor countries even poorer. The children are not able to learn as productively as they could have should their schools or homes have the Internet. Thus, these countries initially have an educational disadvantage which in the long run means the whole country poor economic growth (Perelman, 37).
This situation indeed is essentially different from the past instance of technological inequalities as it has been the case with the electricity and combustion engine of the past. With the industrial revolution the European countries received the increase in productivity when electricity and gasoline if applied to machines or lighting allowed the factories employ fewer workers while receiving the same productivity. The good lighting allowed these factories run around the clock, thus utilizing all 24 hour day for productive work that is impossible in the underdeveloped countries. Yet still, much of the thinking and analytical work during the electricity and gasoline time had to be done by men.
Therefore, the underdeveloped countries in the past, I assume could compete with number of people employed and still receive large total output even with lower productivity. For instance the Soviet Union although technologically developed, still had a very inefficient agricultural sector. Yet, that country deployed a great number of workers and large fields and still managed to receive large total output despite miniscule yield per worker. With the advent of the internet, the communication, technological development and idea inter-exchange, let alone trade, entertainment takes place around the world 24 hours a day. Many of the contracts are singed by the click of the mouse, while the world e-commerce totals for more than 4 billion annually. Even if the underdeveloped countries manage to present a good product to the market, without the information technology and internet, they would have a hard time searching for clients or distributors, thus increasing their costs to the point of unattractiveness of their product (Stephenson, 93).
In conclusion I would like to say that the digital divide as a matter of fact, is a serious problem of the third world countries and of those who want to help these countries monetarily with hopes to boost their productivity and economy. Without the sufficient internet access that in turn allows to increase the education efficiency, work productivity and minimize costs, these underdeveloped countries are doomed to seclusion from the world largest economies and will experience negative growth of their economies.

Depending on your point of view, taking the All or Nothing Approach can be either an act of courage and good sense, or just plain reckless. Unless you are independently wealthy, planning and timing are very important with this approach. That’s because once you leave your previous employment your source of income will be gone and you will have a limited amount of time to make your business work. It is “sink or swim”. And you can sink pretty quickly without a source of income.
So that means you should plan the changeover to self-employment very carefully. Every situation will be different. An acquantance of mine was able to step from his quasi-government job into a private consulting business because he spent the last few months of his employment developing leads and contacts within his industry. When he went on his own he had customers waiting in the wings and was able to more than double his income in his very first year.
But most of us are not so lucky. We do not have the quality leads, the specialized skills, nor the opportunity to use our
present employment to build a launching pad of potential customers before we take off into the wild blue yonder of self-employment. Most of us are starting from scratch with a few vague ideas, a questionable set of yet-to-be-defined skills, and severly limited income. So our venture into self-employment had better take off within a few months or we’re likely to crash and burn.
That is why the Spare Time Approach is best for most new self-employed entrepreneurs. The spare time approach lets you test your ideas, develop your skills, and build your business slowly. If you are unsure about the products or services you intend to sell, the spare time approach lets you try out different product lines and see how well they fit in with your overall objectives.
Often new entrepreneurs find their first ideas are not realistic, or there is no market for the services they want to provide. Or they find they cannot charge enough to make any money providing the products or services they have chosen.
Choose your product carefully
Like all new entrepreneurs, whether you take the “all or nothing approach” or the “spare time approach” you should be very tight-fisted with your limited resources. That means do not invest any serious money in a product or business idea until you have checked it out thoroughly. The best way to “check it out” is
to
- Talk to people who are already selling the product or service
- Establish the credibility of the person or company providing the product or service

The Quest For Home Business Success
When most of us dive into our first home business venture, we are filled with visions of wealth, comfort, security and freedom. We have a general idea of where we’d like to end up financially, and we work hard to get there. Some of us make it there quickly, while others may take a little longer. But at what point would we consider ourselves to be “successful?” Once we’re earning a million dollars a year? Once we can afford that mansion we’ve had our eye on? Once we’re wearing designer clothing? Of course, success means different things to different people.
Perhaps to you, success means earning a little extra money to help with household extras. To me it might mean earning more. To someone else, success might have nothing to do with money at all. They might strive for professional or personal accomplishments. The meaning of success can vary from person to person, as can our beliefs about what it takes to truly be successful.
I had an interesting experience last week. I submitted a request for work at home success stories to be featured on my website, and the response was quite surprising. Not one response. That’s right, zero! I submitted this request to several popular work-at-home communities, and I purposely placed no restrictions on what “success” meant. I was quite surprised by the lack of response. Are there NO work at home successes out there? I don’t believe that for a minute; I know there are many, MANY people working successfully from home. So why wouldn’t they want to be featured? What could prevent them from believing they qualify as a “success story?”
Income - Many of us don’t feel “successful” until we’re raking in massive amounts of money and can afford to buy whatever we want without glancing at the price tag. While money is certainly one measure of success, it isn’t the only one. Most of us have an idea of how much we’d like to be earning from our home businesses, but does it mean we’re not successful until we reach that point? Of course not! We can be successful regardless of how much we earn. Just because you are earning $500 a month instead of $50,000 doesn’t mean you’re not a success. In order to earn $50,000, you must first earn $500!
Status - If we haven’t quite reached the “level” we’re striving for in our home businesses, we may not allow ourselves to feel like a success. “Once I get 1,000 customers, then I’ll be successful,” we say. Or once we get 100,000 subscribers to our newsletter, or hire our first employees. Whatever status we’re trying to reach, we place requirements upon ourselves and won’t consider ourselves successful until we meet them. The problem with this is that home businesses (or businesses in general) are not static. We don’t just “get there” and then call it good. We will always be striving to gain more customers, recruit more agents, sell more products, earn more money, set goals and reach them. We will always be pushing ourselves to do more, be more. This is a good thing!
Perfectionism - We are so much harder on ourselves than we are on anyone else. Does one little thing keep you from feeling like a success? Perhaps you’re earning as much as you want to with your home business, but there are also things you struggle with. Like organization, finances, or coming up with new ideas and seeing them through. Rather than thinking of yourself as successful, you allow those little things you don’t do perfectly to hold you back. You berate yourself, “I would be successful if it wasn’t for my messy filing system!” or “Will I ever learn how to do this right?” No one is perfect. We all have things we’re good at, and other things we’re not so good at. Accept that about yourself. It’s really not important to do everything so perfectly. We can only do our best and have fun with it.
Modesty - It’s true that no one likes a braggart. Perhaps the people who read my request didn’t want to appear boastful or conceited by submitting a success story. While modesty is a good thing, is it possible to carry it too far? Does being modest mean we can’t take pride in our own accomplishments? Does it mean we have to hide our success? No. There is a very big difference between sharing our success and bragging about it. Braggers try to make themselves appear better than others and put themselves up on a pedestal, while people who share their success in a genuine way strive to inspire others. By sharing our successes, we encourage people to make their own success stories! We demonstrate that it is indeed possible to be successful working from home. What a gift that is!
You may be surprised to learn the actual definition of Success: 1) a favorable result; 2) the gaining of wealth, fame, etc. Most of us use the second definition more often than the first. But take a close look at that first definition. A favorable result. How easy is it to attain a favorable result? Very! Just because your results may not be as large as you’d like them to be doesn’t mean you’re not successful. If you’ve attained ANY favorable results, you are a Success!
The most important aspect of success is believing we deserve it. So many of us struggle with worthiness issues. Some of us were told as children that we’d never amount to anything; we internalized that message and continue to carry it with us to this day. Others might be afraid to try because we’ve never felt quite “good enough.” As soon as we start working toward our goals, self-doubts come creeping in and our inner critic starts harping at us: “Who are you kidding? You don’t have what it takes to be successful. Just give it up and get a real job!” So we sabotage ourselves, create obstacles to block our way, and continue our never-ending quest for success.
The truth is, we will only be as successful as we ALLOW ourselves to be. The human mind has amazing power. Whatever we consistently tell ourselves is what we will create in our lives. If we don’t believe we deserve success, we will avoid it (even though we trick ourselves into believing we’re working toward it). If we tell ourselves we’re not good enough, we will act in ways that prevent good things from happening to us. The good news is that this also works in reverse. If we tell ourselves we’re successful, we will be. If we keep affirming that we’re good enough, strong enough, capable enough, we will be. Think about the significance of that. It means it’s ALL WITHIN OUR CONTROL. Whatever we want to be, we can.
Don’t be afraid to embrace your success, no matter how small you perceive it to be. Remember, any favorable result equals Success!

Which Incorporation Services You Need And Which You Can Do Without
If you’re reading this post, you’ve probably decided two things:
1. Hiring an attorney to form your LLC (at $1,500 - $3,500) is too expensive; and
2. You’re not going to do it yourself–filling out government forms gives you hives.
The only option left is to choose an online incorporation company to form your LLC for you.
The only problem is that there are hundreds of online incorporation companies ready to sell you a dizzying array of services and a confusing pricing structure.
Which services do you need?
Probably the biggest factor in determining the cost of forming an LLC are all the add-ons offered. In the marketing world these are called “upsells”. Understand that your plain-vanilla LLC formation is relatively simple. The company pays someone (or more likely has software auto-populate the form) to fill out an Articles of Organization form from the state where you’re forming your LLC. Then they mail that form with a check to the Secretary of State. Some time later, usually a few days or weeks at most, you have a legal LLC. There’s only so much that a company can charge for simple paper-shuffling of that kind.
So the real profit for online incorporation companies are the add-ons. I’m not begrudging them thateveryone needs to make a profit. The only question is which services do you really need, and which can you live without.
Essential Services
1. Registered agent service if you incorporated in a different state than you live in.
This one is clear cut. If you don’t have a physical address in the state you’re forming your LLC in, then you don’t have a legal LLC. Example: if you form a Nevada LLC, then you need to live or have your business in Nevada with a physical address for the government to send tax returns and serve legal process on you. If you don’t live or work there, then you need to hire a company with a physical presence in (for this example) Nevada.
2. A Corporate Veil Guarantee.
This is included standard with all Company Corporation packages. It’s basically insurance against your corporate veil being pierced. If your company is sued and you’re held personally liable because your corporate veil is pierced, they’ll reimburse legal defense fees up to $50,000.
Things you can live without:
1. Corporate kits and binders.
These are attractive binders to hold your filed Articles of Organization certificate in. It’ll look nice on your shelf. If a fancy binder is worth $25 or $50 or whatever they’re charging to you, then go ahead and get it. Or you can just buy a $1 binder at Office Depot. It’ll hold paper just the same.
2. Embosser with your corporate seal.
These look really cool. In college I started a non-profit magazine with some friends and we incorporated it as a 501(c)(3) company. We got the whole package–including the embosser. We had absolutely no legal use for the embosser. Mainly people would play with it when working on an articleembossing everything from waste paper to old magazine covers.
Things to consider getting:
1. EIN service.
You’re going to need an EINalso known as an Employer Identification Number. An EIN is an identifier from the federal government that is essentially like a social security number for your company. You’ll need it to open bank accounts and apply for credit. As the name implies, you’ll also need it if you ever hire employees. But even if you are running a single member LLC with no intention of hiring employees, you’re still going to need an EIN.
The reason why this is under the “consider getting” category is that you can obtain an EIN yourself at no cost. It’s not too difficult. Just fill out one form, called an SS-4, and phone it in to the IRS. They’ll give you your number right on the phone or by return fax. I’ve done it and it’s actually quite painlessI’d say almost pleasant, but we are talking about a call to the IRS.
2. Expedited filing.
If you absolutely need to be incorporated now, then I suppose it’s worth it. Why are you in such a rush? If you’re trying to move and assets from a creditor or ex-spouse (or soon to be ex-spouse), then, let me tell you in my non-legal opinion, that it will probably not work. If you’ve simply procrastinated, then that’s the price you pay. If you need to be incorporated ASAP because you’re about to sign a contract on the company’s behalf, then again, it might be worth it.
