Donate a Car to Purple Heart to Support the Troops

Most car donation programs offer to take a clunker or old motor vehicle off of your hands at no cost to you, stating that the proceeds will go to a well-meaning charity. However, few organizations mention the fact that you can also donate your car to Purple Heart in order to provide for veterans nationwide. The Military Order of the Purple Heart has been operating for 75 years with over 500,000 donors in service of veterans who have been awarded the Purple Heart Medal, and continues to make a difference among troops who have previously served.

Purple Heart endeavors to make the process of donating your car smooth, and starts the procedure off by directing you to fill out a simple donation form on their website, www.purpleheartcars.org, and you can also call the number listed on the website to request that someone walk you through the process. Running or not, Purple Heart accepts all car donations, and only asks that you have a clear title to the car.

For donating your car to the organization, you can receive the fair market value of the car up to $500, unless the car is sold by Purple Heart’s chosen charity for more than $500, in which case you will receive a tax deduction. The organization ensures that the car is sold at the highest possible price so that all parties involved will benefit.

The Military Order of the Purple Heart has locations all over the country, even San Francisco, CA, so you can donate your car from any state without having to worry about how to deliver it. Towing is free and can be available within 24 hours if needed. Even if you will not be home at the time of pickup, the towing company can still take the car and will leave a receipt notifying you of the pickup.
